Neko – A Siamese kitten who needs your help!

Neko - Sponsor a Kitten

Neko is a five-month old, male Siamese kitten. He’s been inoculated and neutered.

Unfortunately Neko has had an accident (unseen) and injured his spine.
He currently has partial paralysis in his back legs, bladder, anus and tail.
Because he wasn’t emptying his bladder his kidneys were damaged.
This has been treated by hospitalization and a drip to flush them through. His kidneys are now working properly.

X-rays show no damage to discs, vertebrae etc.
We are hoping there is temporary pressure on his nerves caused by swollen and bruised tissues and that he’ll regain most, if not all of his functions. He’s being treated with an anti-inflammatory liquid with also contains something for pain relief.

He also has a nasty friction burn on his belly & leg, presumably caused as he fell. This is being treated with a cream containing neomycin, local anaesthetic & anti-inflammatory.

Neko has six-weeks for the anti-inflammatory to work and to show improvement.

We’ve already spent over 300€ / £250 / $400 on x-rays, blood tests, antibiotic injections and anti-inflammatory medicine.

Next week we have to take him for more antibiotics and anti-inflammatory + another consultation charge.

He’s a beautiful kitten and we’re giving him lots of love and attention.
What we don’t have is money, can you help us to try and save little Neko?

I’ve added an Help Neko option in our “Gift Shop” @ £10.
Please increase the quantity if you can afford more.

Tiggy – Who’s a Pretty Girl!

This is Tiggy one of our rescued cats.
Tiggy was found stunned and bleeding on the road through a nearby village.
We cleaned her up and had her checked out by a vet.
She’d been clipped by a car but was okay apart from a minor paw injury and a small cut on her face.

She’s been wormed, inoculated, micro-chipped and neutered.

We’d like to say a big thanks to Helen from London for kindly sponsoring Tiggy multiple times!

All gifts donated are spent directly on the animals care. Worming, flea & tick prevention plus inoculations for seven cats and two dogs is very expensive.

Sponsor Tiggy.

Donkeys Update – 20 December 2011

The donkeys are all fit and well.
We took them out for a walk in the woods.
The sheep came too.

The grass and wild flowers are beginning to grow and the animals grazed through the undergrowth beneath the cork oak trees.

Here are a few photographs.

Chico has never been adopted.

Donkey Update – 05 November 2011

Lots of thunderstorms and heavy rain this week has seen us weather-watching to buy straw and get some to the donkeys without getting completely soaked.

The donkeys are all well.
The rain has washed and fluffed up their winter-coats which are coming through. They all look to be in fantastic condition.

The dark stormy conditions weren’t ideal for photography. I’ll take some next time the sun decides to shine in Andalucía.

Donkeys Update – 11th Oct 2011

Domingo and Chico are doing well.
Eating lots of straw and enjoying a very warm early autumn in Andalucía.
We had a little rain at the beginning of September and that was the first since late April.
The ground is bone dry and everything the donkeys could eat has been eaten long ago.

We’ll soon see sweet chestnuts and acorns falling. They do eat some of these.
We need regular rainfall to start soon so that they can eat some succulent green shoots.

Gifts received towards their upkeep were £0 / $0 / €0 in September.
Disappointing but it was the site’s first month.

donkey castration appeal

We are going to launch a major appeal for  £500 / $750 / €600 this month.
We need our two males castrating so Rosie our female can join them running free. She’s currently in a small paddock behind our house owned by our kind neighbours. She can’t stay there much longer, it isn’t ideal. However it is better than her getting pregnant.

The males must be castrated before the flies reappear in spring.
January/ early February is ideal.

If you can help us, this would really improve their lives.

Thanks

I’ve just designed a small website and can start the fund off with  £50 / $75 / €60

Donkey Castration – Urgent Appeal

Adopt a Donkey – Domingo

Domingo was born in May 2004.
Domingo is a very large and striking donkey. The best looking donkey in the world!
He was wild when we first got him, but lots of patience and TLC has transformed him into a gentle giant.

He has fathered one son, Chico with our female donkey Rosie.

It costs us £25 per month to look after Domingo.
Adopt Domingo for a month … only £25.

We’ll e-mail you a special set of photos taken of him during that month.

Your gift would really help Domingo and allow us to buy items which the animals urgently need.
